This may seem a bit strange for an Air Conditioning Contractor to write about but I just haven’t had the opportunity to be on any new ‘Infinity’ startups. Well in any case I recently changed out the system in my home to a new Carrier Infinity split heat pump. I knew from the specifications that this system was quiet and efficient (19 SEER). The system that I was replacing was the top of the line back in the late 90s and was very efficient and quiet already. Anyway when the guys were finished with the installation I wanted to be there for the startup and programing to tailor things to the way my wife and I live. The indoor touch control for this thing is amazing and very similar to an iPad. Everything is intuitive, easy to operate and in full color with easy-to-see large numbers and icons. I was impressed with that but then I went outside where the service tech was adjusting and checking the system operation and I was completely blown away by the utter lack of noise. When I looked at the unit I could see the fan blade turning but there was hardly any sound. I then asked the tech if the compressor was running and he assured me that it was. Folks this thing is QUIET! I am still amazed at how quite this heat pump is even now a month later.
