Air Conditioner & Heater Repair in Spring Lake, NC
Part of North Carolina’s historic Cumberland County, Spring Lake traces its name back to the early 1920s, when Arthur Priddy opened the Spring Lake service station in the area. In 1951, the town incorporated, and Grady Howard was elected as the first mayor later that year. Howard, who served a total of 14 years as mayor, came to be known as “Mr. Spring Lake.”
A small town for most of its history, Spring Lake enjoyed a period of rapid growth following World War II. The close proximity of Fort Bragg, the country’s largest U.S. Army installation, is often credited for that growth, and the military remains a major part of the Spring Lake community today.
Demographics and Geography
Today, Spring Lake is a town of about 13,000 people living in over 3,000 homes. The town limits enclose 3.7 square miles, almost all land.
Attractions and Culture
The top local destination for golf enthusiasts is the Anderson Creek Golf Club, located on the north side of town. Designed by 1997 PGA Champion Davis Love III, Anderson Creek features large roll-off areas, rolling emerald fairways and glimpses of the area’s classic architecture. The course was named “Best New Course in North Carolina” in 2001 and earned a 4 1/2-star rating from Golf Digest.
Spring Lake’s proximity to Fort Bragg has had a huge impact on the local culture, and one major attraction that’s come from that partnership is the Clay Target Center. Open to both military and civilian visitors, the target center has a lighted range, competition skeet and trap fields and an on-site pro shop and snack bar. The center also accepts reservations for private functions, shooting events and more.
Spring Lake residents are primarily served by five public schools within the Cumberland County School District: three elementary schools, a middle school and Pine Forest High School. Because of Cumberland County’s school choice policy, Spring Lake students can attend any of the county schools, which include a web academy, an evening academy, a year-round classical school and two special schools in addition to the 14 standard high schools.
Like most of North Carolina, Spring Lake enjoys a relatively mild climate throughout most of the year. Still, July highs often soar above 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and January lows may dip below freezing. To stay cool and comfortable no matter the weather, Spring Lake residents depend on great HVAC systems and great heating and air conditioning services.
